SCS SB 1253 -- URBAN REDEVELOPMENT

SPONSOR:  Mathewson (Dempsey)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Special
Committee on General Laws by a vote of 8 to 0.

This substitute clarifies that the definition of "city" as it
relates to urban redevelopment corporations also includes any
city and unincorporated areas of Jackson County.  Currently, the
definition applies to areas of St. Louis County.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2005, FY 2006, and
FY 2007.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say that the bill is necessary to ensure
a proper interpretation of the definition.  The word "in" is
removed to clarify the description.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Mathewson; and City of
Kansas City.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
